THE HEART OF A JOURNEY...

I believe that every journey in life comes with a lesson along with it and that lesson helps us grow as individuals, we all make mistakes in out life’s and often dealing with those mistakes and their consequences is the challenge because we can usually find a 1000 reasons to quit and too often not the one right reason to stay and keep trying. We all go through a significant journey in our lives each day teaches us something new and each day if choose to take the risk we learn and grow. Just like the chapters in a book that is being read life unfolds one page, one chapter at a time until we have finished our book and understood a story. Only difference is at the end of our journey we end up growing as human beings in our thoughts and understanding of life through experiences to look back upon as chapters in our stories. This is why it is said that “it’s not about the destination, but the journey” because in the end no matter where we are it is our experiences that teach us and help us grow into the individuals we finally end up being.
The journey of my life so far has been one full of great and sudden changes, but the one thing that has remained consistent in it is the heart of it which has been the growth of me as an individual. After shifting 13 houses in 17 years of my life and travelling the world ever since I can remember I consider myself to be lucky to have been able to meet the people I have met and learn the things that I know. Due to all the travelling and shifting of houses I had to often change schools and this created opportunities for me to be in different environments with different kinds of people. Me being the reserved person I am found this difficult as a child to adjust but can finally appreciate that difficult aspect of my journey today as I am aware of how much it has made me grow as a person and my understanding of the world and people around me. We all make some mistakes and at times learnt from mistakes made by others and eventually realize that not giving up and having hope is as necessary as a stable mind and a calm spirit to grow. These were things I learnt in different ways through a variety of experiences and people that I met while I travelled and as I grew, and each experience and person was as unique as the one before. When we are young we make mistakes and learn because we are taught but as we start to grow we are to learn how to realize our mistakes and correct them ourselves on our own. Sometimes it takes more time than usual to be able to understand or accept a mistake and only once that is done we can come one step closer to growing as individuals from within. Life is a journey a very important one and we can make it one worth experiencing if we learn and grow with it as time passes us by. It does not have to be as complicated or difficult as we imagine it to be and a famous quote that says “god only gives us problems that we can handle; it’s just a question of finding that strength within us.”
I've learnt that we need to be able to absorb everything life gives us, good and bad because if you haven't seen both sides of the coin you really haven't seen anything at all. This reminds me of this line that's present in a book of thought provoking words on wisdom I once read and I personally believe in this myself, “You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”. Therefore I believe that each problem puts a certain impact on us, it becomes a part of our list of experiences that even if we can’t remember 20 yrs from now, we never really end up forgetting. But there is a good side to all of this too as each problem we face makes us much stronger and cautious as an individual. We learn about life every time we get hurt that and we learn how the smallest things that we never really notice can make the biggest differences in our lives, and eventually we grow…
My journey is far from over and I am still learning and still growing and though it is a difficult process it is one that I have grown to cherish because I do believe that the heart of a journey is growth, a kind of growth that continues forever as we live and learn.
